Alice passed away Tuesday, November 22, 2016, at Avera St. Anthony's Hospital in O'Neill.

Alice Lucille Page was born on August 17, 1915 in O'Neill to Harry and Hattie (Gunn) Page near O'Neill.  She was the oldest of six children.  When she was nine, Alice moved with her family to a farm near the town of West Plains, Missouri.  The family attended a country church and when she was 11, Alice was baptized in a stream.

In 1927, Alice and her family returned to a farm in the O'Neill area.  She graduated from O'Neill High School in 1931, at the head of her class.  That fall, Alice became a country school teacher.  A serious illness put her teaching career on hold as she spent the next 4 years on the family farm gardening, milking cows, helping with fieldwork that was done with horse drawn machinery.  At the age of 20, she started working for other families as a hired girl, cooking, watching kids, and keeping house.

Eventually Alice enrolled in Wayne State College, taking summer sessions to earn her teaching certificate.  She was once again teaching, and taught country school for over 18 years.  Alice then began to work with people with disabilities at Region 4.  Alice retired after her mother had a stroke and needed in home care.

When Alice was 39 years old, she decided that she wanted to learn the accordion.  She played it in the church orchestra for over 60 years until her eye sight began to fail her.  Alice also liked to travel and in 1995, she finally made a trip to Israel, which she proclaimed was the highlight of her life.  In the fall of that same year, at the age of 80, Alice make her first mission trip to Russia with a group organized by Dick Wallace.  The mission trips became an annual event that continue for many years.

Alice is survived by her brother, David Page and wife Beverly of Rapid City, SD and many nieces, nephews and friends.

Alice was preceded in death by her parents; three sisters, Mable Arlene Clyde, Ruth Scoggan, and Carol Brooks; and one brother, Daniel Page.
