Angela Jean Philbrick was born on October 11, 1957 in Ainsworth, NE to Bob and Elizabeth (Slattery) Philbrick. Later, her mother married Shep Strand and he helped raise her. She grew up in Ainsworth where she attended elementary school before graduating from Ainsworth High School in 1976. She worked at Westside Restaurant in O'Neill, where she met John (Jack) Hansen. They were married in Burke, SD in 1985. To this union two sons were born.
They lived in several towns until they settled in O'Neill for the last 20 years of their 34 years together. She quit work to care for her sons. When her children were older, she cared for Handicapped children until she had to quit because of her deteriorating health.
Even though she was in pain for the rest of her life, she continued to care for her family. She was overjoyed to become a grandmother.
She loved fishing and camping and working in the yard with Jack. She loved collecting cookbooks and frogs. She made amazing things from plastic canvas including trucks that had wheels that moved. She loved garage sales and storage unit sales.
She is survived by her mother, Liz Strand of Ainsworth, NE; husband of 34 years, John "Jack" Hansen of O'Neill, NE; three sons, Shane Philbrick and his children of Grand Island, NE, John Hansen Jr. and his life partner, Andrea Banks and daughter Mia of Page, NE, Jacob Hansen and his children, William and Jaxon, and special friend, Paige Williams of Carroll, NE; one sister, nine brothers, and many other relatives and friends.
