Funeral Services for Ardell Lea (Edwards) Maas, age 78, of Chambers will be 2:00 pm Tuesday, March 5, 2019 at the United Methodist Church in Chambers, Nebraska with burial to follow in the Chambers Cemetery.  Pastor Linda Lambert will officiate.  Visitation will be from 5-7 pm on Monday, March 4, 2019 at Biglin's Mortuary in O'Neill with a 7:00 pm prayer service.  Ardell passed away on February 27, 2019 at Avera St. Anthony's Hospital at 5:34pm with all her loving family by her side.  Memorials can be directed to the Chambers Community Splash Pad Project.  Biglin's Mortuary in O'Neill is in charge of arrangements.

Ardell Lea (Edwards) Maas was born on July 26, 1940 to Charles and Marian Edwards at the Lyman Robertson Ranch west of Chambers.  She attended country school and graduated from Chambers High School in 1958.  Her family worked for Lyman Robertson and they lived on his property.  She worked mowing hay for Lyman and also worked at the café owned by Jim Salem where she met Ralph Allen Maas. They were married at Park Rapids, Minnesota on June 23, 1958.  She was just 17 years old.  To this union, four children were born: Karma, Marian, Juanita, and Allen.

She lived in the Chambers area all her life and kept busy beside her husband on their farm and ranch operation.  She also worked at the sale barn, helped with 4H projects, taught Sunday school, kept house, and raised her children.  She spent many days carpooling kids to and from swimming lessons.  She enjoyed helping her best friend, Mary Loseke, coach softball.  She also loved Keller club, card club, and bowling.  Ardell spent a lot of time playing with her grandkids and great grand kids as they always brought a smile to her face.

Ardell is survived by her husband of 60 years Ralph Maas of Chambers, NE; children and spouses, Karma Hogeland and husband Denny of Bridgeport, NE, Marian Wecker and husband Alan, Juanita Maas, and Allen Maas and wife Edie, all of Chambers, NE; grandchildren, Josh Hogeland and wife Ana of Prattville, AL and their children Aliana and Alex,  Kady Warren of Laramie, WY and her son Raven, Alison Olson and husband Ben of Emmet, NE and their children, Matilynn, Lexi and Grant, Heather Ostermeier and husband Jeremy of Chambers, NE and their children, Colton, Elle and Wade, Megan Schwalb and husband Andy of Sioux Falls, SD and their son Olin, Kirsten Maas of Chambers, NE and Rebecca Maas of Chambers, NE; step mother Edna Edwards of Nevis, MN; brothers and sisters, Vietta Hamm of Minneapolis, MN, Garald Edwards and wife Sharon of Nevis, MN, Loy Edwards of Moorehead, MN, Russell Edwards and wife Marlys of Shippensburg, PA and Rick Edwards and wife Kathy of Nevis, MN; numerous nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Charles and Marian (Cutler) Edwards.
