Funeral Services for Arlene Fox, age 80, of O'Neill will be 11:00 am Monday, September 23, 2019 at the Assembly of God Church in O'Neill.  Pastor Mike Durre will officiate.  Burial will be in the Pleasant Valley Cemetery.  Visitation will be 5:00-7:00 pm Sunday with a Prayer Service at 7 pm at Biglin's Mortuary in O'Neill.  Arlene passed away Wednesday, September 18, 2019 at Avera St. Anthony's Hospital in O'Neill.  Memorials can be made to the family for future designation.  Biglin's Mortuary in O'Neill is in charge of arrangements.

Arlene Hood was born October 31, 1938 as number 13 of 14 children to Edward and Carrie (Putman) Hood.  She attended District #27 grade school.  She graduated from Butte High School in 1957.

She lived at Midway, North of O'Neill, most of her life.  It was there that she met her future husband, Harold Fox. Harold and Arlene were married in O'Neill, NE on June 2, 1958.  To this union two daughters were born, Marlene and Cheryl.

Arlene worked waitressing jobs, helped farm, and owned and operated the Spencer Dairy Mart for 17 years.  In her later years, she worked as a dispatcher for Holt County.  She retired in 2009 to spend more time with her grandchildren.

She loved taking care of her grandchildren and was very present and involved in their daily lives and activities.  They brought so much joy and happiness to her life.

Arlene liked to keep busy reading books and the Bible, listening to Gospel Music, attending various events around the community, and cooking.

Arlene was a caregiver to family and many friends.  She was a hard worker and had a strong faith in God.  She was a member of the Butte Full Gospel Church for most of her life and in recent years she attended Assembly of God Church in O'Neill.

Arlene is survived by her daughter, Cheryl Welsh, and husband Jim of O'Neill; grandchildren, Nate, Charlotte, and Jet Welsh of O'Neill; one sister, Irene McHale of O'Neill; brothers-in-law, Melvin Armfield of Tilden, NE, Jim Fox of York, NE; sisters-in-law, Darlene Hood of Neligh, NE and Cleora Ruff of Butte, NE; many other relatives and friends.

She is preceded in death by her parents, Edward and Carrie Hood; 12 siblings; husband, Harold Fox; and daughter, Marlene Fox.
