Bernard Austin Miles and twin to Bart Alfred Miles were born to Lester and Rose (Florea) Miles on February 12, 1956, in Burwell, NE.  Bernard grew up south of Chambers, NE, on a ranch where he learned to love the sand hills.

Bernard went to a one room country school house, District 6, for grades kindergarten to 6 th grade.  His Junior High and freshman years were in Chambers Public High School.  He finished his High School years at Nebraska Christian High School in Central City, where he broke a long-distance track record that held for some time.  He always said he knew that Mama and Daddy loved him and Bart because they sent them to N.C.H.S.  He always had a special place in his heart for the school, and the friends he made there.

Bernard attended Northeast Community College in Norfolk, NE.  His study was in Accounting for 1 year.  He left college to come home and help his father on the ranch, fixing fences and haying.  Bernard was a fine hand with a horse, and working cattle.  The animals trusted him.  They knew he had a kind and gentle heart.  He loved many pets, a cat named Creamy Puff, a dog named Blue, Harvey, a favorite horse, Willie the goat, which he said, "He broke off tree branches on Mama's trees then he had to go."  And a pig called Porky.

He held many jobs before he and his brother Bart took up as team truck drivers.  Their travels while driving their trucks took them to many places and gave them wonderful stories for them to share with their family.  Bernard and Bart had a love for cars, going to drag car races and car shows, and other car events.  He and his brother Bart shared dreams.  He and his brother Bart shared dreams and loved to dream of racing their cars they shared together.

Bernard and Bart become rock hounds and enjoyed going to rock shows too.  Ask them anything about a rock and they loved to talk about them.

One of the last things shared by Bernard was to convey how very lucky he was because of the love of Mama and Daddy.  He said, "Nothing can replace the love of a Mother for her sons."

He had no children but he had a great love for all his Nieces and Nephews. His family grew in numbers with Great Nieces and Great Nephews.

Bernard was a true believer of Christ, and was ready to be with God.  On November 7, 2016, He walked to be with his Lord and Savior from his home in Grand Island, NE.

He is survived by his mother, Rose Miles of O'Neill, NE, twin brother Bart Miles of Grand Island, NE, 4 sisters; Alberta Mikkelsen of Chambers, NE, and Sammie Rowse and husband Rick of Amelia, NE, Cindy Flukey and husband Calvin of Plainview, NE, Sue Grenier Kissell and husband Greg of Sargent, NE, and many nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his grandparents, his father, Lester Miles, brother-in-law Eddie Grenier, and nephew Austin Grenier.
