A Celebration of Life service for Beverly Jean Grimes, age 81, of Kearney, formerly of Chambers, will be at 10:30 am Tuesday, October 10, 2023 at the Chambers Community Church with Pastor Mike Durre officiating. Inurnment will follow in the Chambers Cemetery. Visitation will be one hour prior to the service at the church in Chambers. Beverly passed away on Friday, October 6, 2023 at Arbor Care Center in O'Neill. Memorials may be directed to the Chambers Community Church. Arrangements are entrusted to Biglin's Mortuary in O'Neill.

Beverly Jean Cash was born on December 5, 1941 in Kearney, Nebraska to Walter and Dorothy (Kersting) Cash. She grew up in Kearney and attended Kearney High School. She married Bruce Grimes on July 7, 1965 in Kearney. They made their home in Chambers, Nebraska.

Along with being a mother and housewife Beverly ran the Chambers Shopper for over 20 years and would occasionally drive the school bus for Chambers High School. After the town of Chambers celebrated its centennial celebration on July 4, 1984, Bruce and Bev decided to keep the annual celebration going. With the help of a few loyal volunteers, they were able to keep the celebration going every year until the Chamber of Commerce was formed and eventually took it over.

Beverly loved spending time with her family and attending their activities at Chambers High School. She was a loyal fan and would attend sporting events long after her children had graduated. She also enjoyed crocheting, gardening, canning, and making jelly.

After Bruce passed away in 2006, Beverly continued to live in Chambers until 2019 when she moved to Kearney, NE with her special friend, Paul Gilroy. She lived there until recently when her health declined and she moved to O'Neill.

Beverly is survived by her three children, Robert (Mardy) Ollendick of O'Neill, Julie (Tom) Bauers of Weeping Water, Nebraska, Darrin (Laura) Grimes of Chambers, Nebraska; 11 grandchildren; 14 great grandchildren; siblings, Robert (Julie) Cash of Calimesa, California, Steve, Gary, Rick Clevenger of Kearney; Connie Land of Osmond, Nebraska; several nieces and nephews.

Beverly was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Bruce Grimes in 2006; her son, Larry Ollendick; her sister, LeeEtta Winslow; her brothers, Ken and Fred Cash; and a nephew, David Winslow.
