Robert Lee Waldo was born on October 23, 1949 in O'Neill, Nebraska to Eldon and Bonnie (Noble) Waldo. He grew up in O'Neill and attended St. Mary's Catholic and O'Neill High Schools.
Bob married Kathryn Lieb and they had one daughter, Valerie Waldo. Through his travels he ended up in Quincy, California where he met Linda Tande. They married there on January 29, 1977 and lived in Nebraska since. To this union three children were born, Nicole, Amy, and Robert Jr.
Bob found sobriety in 1980 at Valley Hope Alcohol Treatment Center of O'Neill. Alcoholics Anonymous and Al Anon were a supportive part of their lives for 20 plus years. His occupations included truck driving, farm labor and most recently managed real estate and a storage business begun by his parents.
Bob was a member of AA, Christian Motorcyclists Association and enjoyed the coffee groups at Fox's and McDonalds. He was a current member of Christ Our Cornerstone Church in O'Neill and he and Linda attended Faith Community Church for many years.
Before meeting Linda, Bob's past involved alcoholism, and his behavior resulted in prison sentences at times. During the active years of CMA, they ministered by going to the Juvenile Detention Center in Madison, Nebraska. He tried to impress on the kids to change their lives and he shared his testimony and the gospel with many young people. He found fulfillment and purpose in the organization and work. He also enjoyed being one of many youth leaders in Faith Community, helping with mission trips also.
He had a consistent sense of humor, was a committed, loving husband and trying to make sure his family was provided for was a priority, even when health challenged him.
His joy was riding motorcycles and taking trips to Sturgis. Bob also enjoyed fishing, hunting, camping, and riding horses with his family when the kids were young.
