Memorial Services for Dale Nolan, age 95, of Spencer will be at 10:30 am Thursday, November 2, 2023 at St. Mary's Catholic Church in Spencer with burial to follow in the St. Mary's Catholic Cemetery in Spencer. Fr. Bernard Starman officiating. Memorial Visitation will be from 9:30 am until the service time at the church on Thursday. Dale passed away on Wednesday, October 25, 2023 at the Butte Senior Living Center in Butte, Nebraska. Memorials may be directed to his family for future designation. Arrangements are entrusted to Biglin's Mortuary in Spencer.

Norman Dale Nolan was born on November 11, 1927, in Ravinia, South Dakota to John and Amy (Gibson) Nolan, the fourth of five sons. Dale grew to manhood in the Ravinia and Fairfax, South Dakota communities.

He married Judy Ellen Bailey on November 25, 1949, at St. Anthony Catholic Church in Fairfax. They were blessed with four children: Gary, John, Jerald, and Brenda. In the early years of their marriage, they lived on several farms in the Dallas and Fairfax, South Dakota areas before settling on a farm north of Spencer, Nebraska where they raised their family. As a devoted husband, he was quick to put a positive spin on difficult circumstances.

Dale embraced the hard work of a farmer. He especially enjoyed the harvest time with the shared labor of family & neighbors. He loved having his grandchildren help with the farm chores. When he retired from farming, he found joy in growing a massive garden. He raised exceptional onions, potatoes, and watermelons which he shared with everyone who came to visit. Dale was a devout member of St. Mary's Catholic Church in Spencer.

Dale is survived by sons, Gary (Marge) Nolan of Butte, John (Jan) Nolan of Spencer; grandchildren, Hillori (Todd) Junge, Brian (Kassandra) Nolan, Steven (Lisa) Nolan, Abby (Mike) Birkel, Douglas (Emily) Nolan, Tamra (Jasper) Day, William (Sara) Nolan, Amber (T'Jae) Estes, Adam Nolan, Ashley (Jeff) Herman, Nolan Wickersham; 17 great-grandchildren; brother, Elden Nolan; and numerous nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents, John & Amy Nolan; his wife, Judy Nolan; son, Jerald Nolan in 2015; daughter, Brenda Wickersham in 2018, brothers, Gerald Nolan, Keith Nolan, and Clayone "Buzz" Nolan; niece, Sally Patzel; and nephews, Jim Nolan, Bob Nolan, Dan Nolan, Tim Nolan, and Mike Nolan.
