A Memorial Service for Daniel Roberts, age 84, of Spencer, Nebraska will be 2:00 PM Friday, March 14, 2025 at the Spencer Community Hall in Spencer, NE. Visitation will be one hour before the service at the Hall.  Dan passed away on Thursday, March 6, 2025 at his home, Memorials may be directed to the Spencer Volunteer Fire and Rescue Department. Arrangements are under the direction of Biglin's Mortuary in Spencer, NE.

Daniel Edgar Roberts was born on July 18, 1940 in Norfolk, NE to Edgar and Hester (Axtel) Roberts.  He attended country school in Dustin, NE before graduating from Spencer High School in 1957.

He met his wife Jean Lueken at a dance in Spencer, NE and they were married at the Assumption BVM Catholic Church in Lynch, NE on May 9, 1964.  To this union three children were born, Kelly, Vicky, and Dustin.

Daniel loved farming and ranching.  He farmed the family land in the Dustin, NE area his whole life and in 2020 he received the Aksarben Pioneer Centennial Farm Family Award.  He retired from farming 16 years ago and moved into Spencer to be closer to the Ft. Randall Dam for fishing.

He also enjoyed hunting, taking care of his roses, his dogs, Pup, Chip, Brandy, Spike, and Bear and ice fishing, He was a competitive card player and loved going to auctions and collecting antiques.  He would collect anything from Aladdin lamps to his old John Deere GP.

He is survived by his wife of 61 years, Jean Roberts of Spencer; two children, Kelly (Paula) Roberts of Fort Calhoun, NE and Vicky Roberts of Lincoln, NE; daughter in law, Daisha Roberts of Atkinson, NE; two grandsons, Andrew Roberts and Max (Courtney) Roberts; two great grandchildren, Ella and Jace Roberts;  brothers in law, Bob Lueken and Lefty Lueken, both of Lynch, NE and George Lueken of Albion, NE; many other relatives and friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Edgar, and Hester (Axtel) Roberts; son, Dustin Roberts; brother, Bill Roberts.
