Funeral Services for Danny J. Menish, age 68, of O'Neill will be 10:30 am Monday, February 24, 2020 at the United Methodist Church in O'Neill.  Private family burial will be at a later date.  Visitation will be from 4-7 pm Sunday, February 23, 2020 at Biglin's Mortuary in O'Neill with a 7 pm prayer service.  Danny passed away Wednesday, February 19, 2020 at Bryan Medical Center East in Lincoln, Nebraska.  Memorials can be directed to the family for future designation.  Biglin's Mortuary in O'Neill is in charge of arrangements.

Danny Joseph Menish was born on August 23, 1951 to Joseph and Deloras Cadwallader Menish in O'Neill, Nebraska.  He graduated from O'Neill High School in 1970.  He went on to attend Northeast College in Norfolk where he took some trade classes.

He returned to O'Neill where he began his 50- year career working for Carhart Lumber.  Working in the Lumber yard was very rewarding for Dan, as he loved working with wood and building things.  Danny was a hard worker and always knew what the customer wanted or needed.  He was known to be able to fix anything.  He taught many kids before they went off to college the tricks of the trade at the lumber yard.  Danny spent many hours on the forklift at Carhart delivering sheet rock.  He will be remembered by many in the community for driving his forklift here or there bidding his friendly wave and smile as he passed by.

Danny married Naomi Green, they later divorced.  He married Cathy Focken on July 24, 2009 in O'Neill, NE.  Danny loved his five step-children; Chip, Jenny, Erik, Colleen, and Kurt. He would do anything for them and always treated them as his own.

Dan was very involved in the community.  He was past President and 21-year member of the Fraternal Order of Eagles O'Neill Chapter Aerie 3644.  He was an active member of the Masonic AF and AM Garfield Lodge #95 in O'Neill and a member of the Harbor Freight Buying Club of Nebraska.

Danny enjoyed going to NPPD sales and Nebraska State Sales with his Dad.  He loved tinkering with wood, building things, and trying to fixing things for anyone that needed help. He also enjoyed and was an avid collector of salt and pepper shakers.

Danny is survived by his wife, Cathy of O'Neill; mother, Deloras  (Menish) Clark of O'Neill; brothers, Scott (Marcia) Menish of O'Neill, Robert Menish of O'Neill, Mike (Bernadette) Menish of Norfolk, NE; step-children, Chip, Jenny, Erik, Colleen, and Kurt; 10 step-grandchildren; nieces and nephews, Travis, Amanda, Michael, Rachel, AnneMarie, Jonathan, Brandon, Justin, Jessica, and Natasha; great niece, Emma; great-nephews, Blake and Braxton; many relatives, co-workers, and friends.

He is preceded in death by his father, Joseph Menish; sister, Ann Menish; brother, David Menish; grandparents, Charles "Hap" and Marie Cadwallader, Ed and Lucelle Menish; step-fathers, Don Barnes and Howard Clark.
