A Mass of Christian Burial for Donna Raterman, age 91, of Bonesteel, SD, will be at 10:30 A.M., Saturday, April 23, 2016, at St. Anthony's Catholic Church in Fairfax, SD.

Burial will be in St. Anthony's Catholic Cemetery.

Visitation will be Friday, April 22, 2016, from 5-7 P.M., with a 7:00 P.M. Rosary at St. Anthony's Catholic Church in Fairfax, SD.

Donna passed away Tuesday, April 19, 2016, at the Golden Living Center in O'Neill. Memorials may be made to the family for future designation.

Donna Mae Raterman was born on July 31, 1924 on the family farm near Fairfax, SD to Louis and Minnie (Bonck) Fritz. She attended college at Springfield and Dakota Wesleyan and became an elementary teacher prior to her marriage to Lawrence Raterman on June 11, 1955. They were parents of 3 sons: Lawrence (Larry), Gary, and Bryan, who were raised on the family ranch.

She had numerous interests and music was one that she especially enjoyed. She accompanied soloists and vocal groups during the time she taught school. She became organist at St. Anthony's Church in 1958 and was honored in 2008 for serving as organist for 50 years. She gave piano lessons in later years. Gardening, raising flowers, taking photographs of her family, cooking for family gatherings were things she enjoyed doing.

Donna is survived by her sons and their wives: Larry Raterman and wife Lynita of Hermosa, SD, Gary Raterman and wife Deanna of O'Neill, NE, and Bryan Raterman and special friend Lyubov of Sioux Falls, SD, 7 Grandchildren: Carrie, Chad, Cody, Nathan, Shayla, Nicole and Jordan, and 18 Great Grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her husband Lawrence on October 11, 1982, her parents, brother Kenneth, sister Verdene Campbell and 4 half sisters; Dorothy Metzger, Lela Lakey, Louise Halterman and Alice Metzger and a daughter in law, Stephanie Raterman.
