A Funeral Mass for Edgar J. Tunender, age 75, of O'Neill, NE will be 10:30 AM Wednesday, February 7, 2018, at St. Joseph's Catholic Church in Atkinson, NE.  The family requests that everyone please dress in casual attire.  Burial will follow at the St. Joseph's Catholic Cemetery in Atkinson. Visitation will be on Tuesday from 6- 8 PM with a Knights of Columbus Rosary at 7:30 PM, at Biglin's Mortuary in O'Neill. Edgar passed away on Sunday, February 04, 2018, at Avera St. Anthony's Hospital in O'Neill. Memorials may be given to the family for future designation. Biglin's Mortuary of O'Neill is in charge of arrangements.

Edgar J. Tunender was born on October 18, 1942, south of Emmet, NE, to Lena (Ramold) and Raymond Tunender.  He married Ellen Frost on September 14, 1963, in Atkinson, NE.  To this union, 6 children were born:  Stephen, Edgar, Joseph, Patrick, Michael, and Teresa.  Edgar and Ellen lived in Holt County all their lives.  Edgar spent the greatest years of his life in the hay field, which taught his children their work ethic.  He farmed, ranched and dealt in scrap metal.

In 2013, Edgar purchased a building west of O'Neill and ran an antiques and collectibles store called Junk and Stuff.  He enjoyed visiting with whoever would come in.  He loved working, but was especially fond of little kids.

Edgar died peacefully at St. Anthony's Hospital, with family at his bedside.  He leaves to mourn his death his wife of 54 years, Ellen, his children and spouses:  Stephen (Teresa) Tunender of Bartlett, NE, Joe (Jill) Tunender of Harlan, IA, Pat Tunender of Atkinson, NE, Mike Tunender of Atkinson, NE, Teresa Kaup (Mike) of Wayne, NE, Grandchildren:  Monique Tunender and her sons, Michael and Sterling, J.R. Tunender, Makayla Tunender, Hannah Tunender, Ashley Tunender, Madison and Anna Kaup, 3 brothers; Francis (Lynda) Tunender of Plainview, NE, Robert (Lois) Tunender of Atkinson, NE, Gene (Wilma) Tunender of Malmo, NE, Uncle, Hubert Ramold of Atkinson, NE, and many nieces, nephews, relatives and friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Ray and Lena, one son, Edgar Paul Tunender, one sister and brother in law, Dolores and Edgar Fischer.
