A Funeral Mass for Betty Chmiel, age 92, of O'Neill will be 10:30 am Friday, April 6, 2018 at St. Patrick's Catholic Church in O'Neill with burial in the O'Neill Cemetery.

Visitation will be from 6-8 pm Thursday, April 5, 2018 at Biglin's Mortuary in with a 7:00 pm Rosary.  Fr. Bernard Starman and Fr. James Weeder will officiate.

Betty passed away on Sunday, April 1, 2018 at the Good Samaritan Nursing Home in Atkinson, Nebraska.

Biglin's Mortuary of O'Neill is in charge of arrangements.

Elizabeth R Chmiel was born on October 18, 1925 in Leigh, Nebraska to James and Elizabeth (Rose) Charvat.  She graduated from Ewing High School in 1943.

Betty married Alexander Chmiel on November 28, 1946 at St. Joseph's Catholic Church in Wisner, Nebraska.  She and Al lived and worked in Omaha and Columbus, Nebraska after spending several years in Washington and California.  Their last stop for the last 25 years was O'Neill.

Betty is survived by her brother, John "Jack" Charvat and wife, Nadine of Bellevue, Nebraska, and numerous nieces and nephews, scattered around the country.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Al in 2014; two sisters, Mary Finicle and Irene Burke; and one brother, James Charvat.
