Obituary

A Celebration of Life for Frank Leamons, age 80 of Stuart, will be held in the Spring at Monowi Cemetery where Frank will be laid to rest next to his mother. A time of sharing for friends and family will follow the brief service at Elsie's Bar, which was one of Frank's favorite places. Frank A. Leamons passed away on January 12th at Parkside Manor in Stuart, Nebraska. He was surrounded by his Parkside Manor friends. Arrangements are entrusted to Biglin's Mortuary in O'Neill.

Frank Alfred Leamons was born on November 30, 1942 to Fred B. and Agnes A. (Peterson) Leamons at the Lynch Hospital in Lynch, NE. He and his parents lived on the family farm until Frank and his mother relocated to Monowi, NE, living in a trailer house behind Elsie's Bar. Elsie and Frank soon became friends.

Frank moved to Beatrice Developmental Center in Beatrice, NE to attend day programs to learn new life skills. He lived there until 1981, when he moved to a Region IV services, a Community Based Program in O'Neill, NE. While in O'Neill, Frank was able to be close to his mother and she visited often. Frank resided in various house settings and again attended day programs so he could continue to learn new skills and socialize with others. He loved people all his life, no matter where he was. Frank was able to buy his home and lived there with his close friend John. He lived in O'Neill until he went to Parkside Manor in Stuart, NE in 2018 due to health reasons.

Frank was able to enjoy many activities like fishing, attending local parades, watching birds, and going for car rides to get ice cream. Frank will be especially remembered for his big smile. He made friends wherever he was and they became his family.

Frank left to mourn his very special friend Nancy Nelson and her family of O'Neill; Roxanne O'Neill of O'Neill; and many, many friends. He is survived by one family member, Wyatt Peterson of New Martinsville, West Virginia.

Frank was preceded in death by his parents and grandparents.
