Bernard Starman will officiate.  Visitation will be 5-7 pm Friday, August 15, 2025 with a Knights of Columbus Rosary at 7 pm at SS Peter & Paul Catholic Church in Butte.  Harold passed away on Friday, August 1, 2025 at Avera Creighton Care Center in Creighton.  Memorials may be directed to his family for future designation.  Arrangements are entrusted to Biglin's Mortuary in Spencer.

Harold Dean Reiser was born April 22, 1935, at the family farm in Butte, NE to Leo and Anges (Liewer) Reiser.  He attended SS Peter & Paul Parochial School and District 8 to the 8th grade.  He attained his GED in the Military.

In the spring of 1953, Harold moved to Seattle, WA, where he met Shelia Campbell.  Harold worked as an orderly at Lakeland Village in Medical Lake until enlisting in the Army in February of 1956.  Harold and Shelia were married on November 17, 1956.  While in the Army Harold completed his basic training at Fort Benning, then went by ship to Germany, where their daughter Theresa was born.  They returned to Georgia, where their son James was born, and sadly, he passed away at 2 months old.  Harold was Honorably Discharged with the rank of E4.

The family returned to a farm south of Butte and welcomed four more children: Hope, Carolyn, Randy, and Michelle.  Harold was busy with his farm and also worked at Gaylen's Ranch for 10 years.  During this period, he sold 40 acres, which eventually became the Butte Golf Course.

After farming, Harold took on a new venture, opening Harold's Bar in the 80s where everyone felt welcome.  He enjoyed visiting with everyone who entered, and no one left a stranger.  During this time, he married Sharon (Mathers) on July 29, 1983, in O'Neill, NE, embracing Sharon's children, Chris and Nancy.

He sold his bar and was presented with the opportunity to manage Mr. G's Mini Mart in Plainview, NE.  Eventually, they moved back to Butte, owning "R" Mini Mart for nine years.  Harold then worked for National Farms in Atkinson, NE, until he retired.  After retirement, he returned to his love of farming by helping his nephew, Jeff, farm.  During his lifetime, he planted numerous trees for NRD at Butte.  While taking a drive around parts of Nebraska, you will see many shelter belts that Harold planted.

He was involved in his community of Butte as Chairman of the Board for 12 years, a member of the Legion Club, and the Knights of Columbus.

He loved sharing stories, often adding his quick, quirky sense of humor.  He enjoyed farming/ranching, adored animals, loved attending to and entertaining his children, grandchildren, family, and friends.  He enjoyed playing cards, golfing, fishing, bowling, gardening, his pumpkin patch, planting trees, being in the tractor, and teaching life skills to whoever asked or needed.  He cherished long drives in the country and could point out where anyone lived.  He loved having visitors.

Harold, or Grandpa as he was affectionately known, was a shining light in the lives of all who had the privilege of knowing him.  His journey on earth was one marked by love, compassion, and unwavering faith in God.  His passing has left a void in the hearts of his family, friends, and many more whose lives were touched by him.  We ask that you remember him not for the way his life ended, but for the way it was lived.  Harold lived life to the fullest.  He had a profound impact on all the lives of those who had the pleasure of knowing him.

Left to cherish his memory: his beloved wife, Sharon, of 42 years; children, Hope (Les) Cline, Carolyn Barnhill, Michelle (Mike) Rathe; step-children, Chris (Jaime) Reiser, and Nancy Reiser; 18 grandchildren, Brad (Sheila) Hoff, Matt (Heather) Miller, Angela Hoff, Andrew (Samantha) Hoff, Tim (Rachel) Hoff, Jeremy (Staci) Huntsman, Whitnea (William) Macecevic, Cydnea Cline, Sawyer Cline, Chyanne (Tyler) Griess, Daylon Barnhill, Ceyenna.
