Funeral Services for Helen "Mick" Stevens, age 87, of rural Chambers, will be at 10:30 A.M., Tuesday, October 25, 2016, at St. Paul's Lutheran Church in Chambers, with burial in the Chambers Cemetery.

Visitation will be from 5-8 P.M., Monday, October 24, 2016, at Biglin's Mortuary in O'Neill, with a 7:00 P.M. Prayer Service.

Helen passed away Thursday, October 20, 2016, at her home in rural Chambers, NE.

Helen "Mick" Elaine Smith was born on January 16, 1929 in Sioux City, Iowa to Robert and Lucille (Koehler) Smith. Mick graduated from Central High School in Sioux City in 1947. She attended Wayne Normal School, now Wayne State College and received her Teaching Certificate.

Mick married Dean Stevens on April 30, 1950 in Chambers, Nebraska. They have three children, Cole, Noel, and Kendra. Mick taught at several country schools in Holt County.

Mick had a great love for her family and especially enjoyed watching her grandchildren in their many sports and school activities. She also had a passion for sewing and quilting. Mick spent countless hours making clothes and quilts.

Mick is survived by her husband of 66 years, Dean Stevens of Chambers; three children, Cole (Deb) Stevens of Chambers, Noel Stevens of Chambers, Kendra Stevens of Chambers; five grandchildren, Colin Stevens of Norfolk, Alisha (Shaun) Luebbe of Lincoln, Katelyn Stevens of Lincoln, Tanner Friedrichsen of Chambers, Austen Friedrichsen of Chambers; five great grandchildren; one sister, Karlie (Jerry) Koinzan of Bartlett; many nieces and nephews.

Mick was preceded in death by her parents; her step-father, Clarence Hansen; two sisters, Lois Thirstrup and Patricia Smith.
