Celebration of Life Services for Irene McHale, age 93, of O'Neill, NE formerly of Riverside, CA will be 11:00 am Saturday, September 5, 2020 at Biglin's Mortuary in O'Neill. Visitation will be one hour prior to the service. Graveside Services will be held at Riverside National Cemetery in Riverside, CA. Memorials may be given to the family for future designation. Irene passed away Monday, August 31, 2020 at Arbor Care Center in O'Neill, NE. Biglin's Mortuary in O'Neill, NE and Acheson & Graham Garden of Prayer Mortuary in Riverside, CA are in charge of services.

Irene Marie (Hood) McHale was born December 22, 1926 to Edward and Carrie (Putman) Hood north of O'Neill, NE. She was born 7th out of 14 children and is the last surviving member. She grew up north of O'Neill where she attended country school.
Irene moved to California when she was 14. She married to Robert S. McHale on October 1, 1949. They were married for 57 years until Bob's passing on his 84th birthday, May 1, 2007. They resided in Riverside, CA and did not have any children. Irene was a waitress at many restaurants in the Riverside area and after retirement, she ran a daycare.

Irene enjoyed going on trips and keeping in touch with family members over the years. Bob and Irene enjoyed hosting visitors that came to visit. She had a great memory up until her passing. Irene was everyone's favorite aunt. She made you feel like you were her very own. Irene had a love for cats and usually had one indoor cat and a few outdoor cats she took care of.
Irene moved back to O'Neill to be near her sisters in 2012. She continued to host relatives that came to visit and continued to keep in touch with family and friends.

Locally, Irene is survived by sister-in-law, Darlene Hood of Neligh, NE; brother-in-law, Melvin Armfield of Tilden, NE; nieces and nephews; Robert, Thomas, and James Storjohann, Margaret Wiseman, Cheryl Welsh, plus many more across the country.
