Funeral Services for Joan Kestenholtz, age 72, of Fremont and formerly of O'Neill will be 2:00 pm Thursday, June 17, 2021 at First United Methodist Church in O'Neill with Rev. Brian Loy officiating. A private burial will be in the O'Neill Cemetery. There will be no visitation. Joan passed away on Saturday, June 12, 2021 at her home in Fremont. Memorials may be directed to the family for future designation. Arrangements are entrusted to Biglin's Mortuary of O'Neill.

Joan Mae Neal was born on June 21, 1948 in O'Neill to Claude and Dorothy (Hansen) Neal. She attended O'Neill Public Schools and graduated from O'Neill High School in 1967. She worked from a very young age until she retired in 1990. In O'Neill, she worked for M&M Bakery, and Seger's Truck Stop. In Fremont, she worked for Marcy's Café and finally for Encore Services.

Joan married Ken Kestenholtz on March 5, 1976 at the O'Neill Court House. To this union, four children were born, one son, Jr. and three daughters, Dorothy, Kendra, and Amanda.

Joan loved to work in her flower garden, go camping, spend time in the great outdoors, and spend time with her family, especially her grandkids. She was known for being a kind and loving person. Joan was always willing to help her family, friends, and neighbors.

Joan is survived by her husband of 45 years, Ken Kestenholtz of Fremont; her four children, Dorothy Kopejtka of Fremont, Jr. (Wendy) Kopejtka of Fremont, Kendra Kestenholtz of Fremont, Amanda (Brian) Hand of Fremont; 11 grandchildren; 10 great grandchildren; one sister, Barbara (Marlin) Rogers of Fremont; brother-in-law, Tom Volker of West Point; many nieces and nephews.

Joan was preceded in death by her parents and three sisters, Florence Schaffer, Claudia Scholz, and Susan Volker.
