Funeral Services for Joan Martin, age 90, of O'Neill, Nebraska will be at 11:00 am on Thursday, June 27, 2024 at O'Neill Methodist Church in O'Neill with Pastor Robert Wynn officiating.  Burial will be in the O'Neill Cemetery.  Visitation will be from 10:00 am to the time of the service.  Joan passed away on Monday, June 24, 2024 at her home.  Arrangements are entrusted to Biglin's Mortuary in O'Neill.

Joan Martin was born on May 17, 1934 to Levi and Vida Clemens in Amelia, Nebraska.  Her older siblings always told how she was born at home during a dust storm while they kept blankets at the windows to keep out the dust.  Her dad always said "the only thing they got out of the Dirty 30's was Joan".

She graduated from Chambers High School and attended college in Norfolk, Nebraska.  After college she moved to O'Neill and worked for Social Services until she met Harold Humrich.  They were married in 1955 and raised two daughters, Becky, and Jan.  Harold passed away in 1979 and she married Don Martin in 1984.  They were married until 2002 when Don passed away.

Joan is survived by her daughters, Becky (Ed) Peter, Jan (Jim) Johnson both of O'Neill, NE; grandchildren, Angie (Dustin) Havranek of Omaha, NE, Chisty (Ben) Berggren of Stromsburg, NE, Tim (Emily) Peter of O'Neill, NE, Jeremy (Marie) Peter of Plainview, NE, Laura (Dustin) Beerman of Kearney, NE, Lisa Peter of Omaha, NE, Sara (Austin) Twibell of Orchard, NE, Megan Peter of Kearney, NE; 17 great grandchildren; Don's children, Peggy (Gary) Wettlaufer of O'Neill and Dick (Carol) Martin of Lincoln, NE and their families; one sister-in-law, RuthAnn Clemens of O'Neill; many nieces and nephews.

She preceded in death by her parents; first husband, Harold Humrich in 1979; second husband, Don Martin in 2002; siblings, Faye (Julius) Belew, Bud (Stacia) Clemens, Doc (Mildred) Clemens, Ethel (Henry) Traver, Ruth (Leonard) Pribil, and Cliff Clemens.
