Joanne Mae was born on April 12, 1934 to Buel and Rachel (Dare) Saxon near Ponca, Nebraska where she was raised. After graduating from Ponca High School, Joanne married her long-time love, Bob, on June 24, 1954. After frequent separations while Bob served in the Army, Joanne worked various jobs to help support their growing family while Bob attended college and throughout his career across the state of Nebraska.
Joanne loved her German Shepherd dogs, both Quarter horse & Thoroughbred race horses, attending race events at tracks across Nebraska, Kansas, and New Mexico, and of course, Cornhusker football.
In 2008, Joanne suffered a severe illness and near death but was unwilling to leave this world at that time. During her "bonus time" she bought her convertible, golfed, continued to attend horse races, lost her husband, spent quality time with her remaining family, and enjoyed traveling. When she wasn't zip lining in Mexico or winning against her children on a golf course, you would find her at one of the great grandkid's events.
She had a long, full life, sharp wit, quick laugh, and the worst stink eye (when we irritated her). Even knowing that Joanne has now rejoined her beloved husband, she will be sorely missed.
Joanne is survived by her children and spouses, Paul Lowe (Beverly Sorensen) of O'Neill, Blane (Julie) Lowe of Burwell, NE, Regina Walters of Boerne, TX and Rachele (Marty) Lyons of Herrick, SD; eight grandchildren, Nathan (Janna) Lowe, Chanda (Doug) Smith, Jamie Grint, Leslie (Terry) Stankoski, Alicia (Aaron) Kelly, Miles Lowe, Matthew (Kara) Walters and Martyn Lyons; 15 great grandchildren; four great-great grandchildren; brother, Robert Saxon of Denver, CO; sister, Janice (Bill) Thompson of Stromsburg, NE; many nieces and nephews.
She is preceded in death by her husband, Bob, parents, Rachel, Buel, & Merle; sister, Betty; brother, Jim; grandson in law, Steve Tenski and many close friends.
