Joyce Yvonne Predmore was born October 1, 1936 to Rufus and Bula (Hall) Predmore at their farm home 7 miles west of Sargent, NE, on the south side of the Middle Loup River.  This was the area her Grandfather N.B. Predmore had homesteaded in the mid 1880's and where her father was born in 1887.  She joined an older brother, Keith, born in 1930.  Later a second brother, Gary, joined their family in 1942.

During her early childhood, she could always be found riding her favorite horse and doing the usual farm chores all children helped with at that time.  Feeding the chickens, gathering eggs, driving in the milk cows, bringing water from the well, and filling up the wood and coal buckets during the winter.  Spare time was spent reading anything available.

Joyce attended grade school at Tableland Dist. 70, completing the 8th grade there.  In 1949, she entered high school in Sargent and attended for two and a half years and then completed the subjects by correspondence and received her diploma.

On Aug. 9, 1952, she married Wilmer Allison in Broken Bow, NE.  They made their home on a farm 10 miles west of Sargent.  They were the parents of two children.  Lonnie, born Dec. 1954 and Jeanne, born Dec. 1956.  They moved from the farm in Feb. 1958 into Sargent.  Joyce did bookkeeping for several businesses on a part-time basis.  Later the couple divorced.

On June 19, 1964, she married Gene F. Meyers originally from Ainsworth, NE, in Carson City, Nevada.  They first settled in Chadron, NE, where Joyce began apprenticing in a beauty salon.  Shortly thereafter they moved to Plainview, NE, where they bought a dry-cleaning plant and Joyce started a beauty salon where she received her beautician license by apprenticeship. A son, Todd, was born to them in June 1965.  They continued to operate the cleaners and beauty salon until 1975.  After Jeanne graduated from high school, they sold the business and moved to O'Neill where they built a new building and continued the work they loved.  In 1998, due to health issues, Gene was forced to sell the dry cleaners, but Joyce continued operating the beauty salon until 2011 when she sold it.  However, she still worked in the salon, and The Evergreen Assisted Living beauty salon until 2020 when covid forced her to only work at the Evergreen until August 5, 2024.  She loved her work and said her occupation had become her hobby.

Joyce enjoyed several hobbies including working in their yard and growing flowers.  For many years she raised a huge garden and canned hundreds of quarts of vegetables and fruits.  She also loved bowling.  She began bowling at the new lanes in Burwell in 1961 and continued in O'Neill where she was league president for many years, league secretary, and served on the board of directors for over twenty years.  She bowled for over 50 years, stopping just before her 89th birthday.  She bowled in the Nebraska Women's State Tournament for over 30 years and the National Women's Bowling Tournament four years.  She became interested in genealogy and spent hours tracing their family records and sharing her research with many relatives.  In 2013, she wrote and published a book about her early childhood.

She was a loving and devoted wife and mother.  The family loved Christmas get-togethers and Joyce made them very special by shopping for numerous presents, preparing delicious food and decorating to make everything festive.  Their house was overflowing with children and grandchildren.

After Gene's death in 2015, Joyce lived on her own even after being diagnosed with Alzheimer's in early 2024, until November 2025 when she moved to The Evergreen Assisted Living in O'Neill.  In July 2026 she moved to the Independence House Specialized Assisted Living in Lincoln, NE.

Joyce is survived by her children, Lonnie (Barb) Allison of Kearney, NE, Jeanne (Frank) Andelt of Lincoln, NE, Todd Meyers of O'Neill, NE; her step children, Patricia (Tim) Nichelson of Ashland, NE, Deb Laible of Orchard, NE, Leon (Jacque) Meyers of O'Neill, NE; four grandchildren, Lindsey Harring of Grand Island, Ne, Michael (Katie) Allison of Kearney, NE, Tyler Andelt of Lincoln, NE, Angela Meyers of Mansfield, TX; five great grandchildren; 14 step grandchildren; 29 step great grandchildren; three step great great grandchildren; nephew, Rob (Teresa) Predmore of Lincoln, NE; niece, Pam (Mitch) Becker of Rockville, NE.

She is preceded in death by her husband Gene Meyers in 2015 after 51 years of marriage; her parents; brothers, Junior (stillborn), Keith in 1952, Gary in 2016; sister-in-law, Jeri Predmore in 2021; grandson, Trevor Andelt in 1990; step grandson, Jeremy Miller in 2002.
