Lloyd was born on the family homestead in the Goose Lake area on June 15, 1918, to Clarence and Hattie (Honeywell) Knox. He attended District School 2 ½ in Wheeler County. He met Dorothy Schulz and they were married on May 28, 1938 at Chambers Lutheran Church. To this union, 2 children were born; LaVonne and Melvin. After they were married, the couple lived in the Tekamah Herman area until buying the adjoining ranch next to his parents in 1945. Lloyd was a very hard-working rancher. He spent long hours tending to his Hereford cattle and baling hay. Lloyd worked on the ranch well into his 90's. He moved to Chambers in 2006 so his grandson could be closer to his cattle. When he wasn't working on the ranch, he enjoyed playing cards with family and neighbors, and going dancing with friends.
He is survived by his children: LaVonne Beck of Atkinson, NE, Melvin Knox and wife Pat of rural Ewing, NE, 6 grandchildren, 16 great grandchildren, 2 great great grandchildren, 3 step-grandchildren, 4 step-great grandchildren, 1 step-great great grandchild, and nieces, nephews, relatives and friends.
He was preceded in death by his wife Dorothy, parents, Clarence and Hattie Knox, son-in-law, Duane Beck, brother, William Knox and wife, Helen, and one step-great granddaughter.
