Lois Marie Robertson was born on November 20, 1933 in Orchard, NE to Roy and Olive (Ellis) Robertson. She had 2 brothers and 4 sisters. After graduating from Orchard High School in 1950, she graduated from Clarkson College in Omaha as a Registered Nurse in 1954.
Lois married the love of her life, Clayton C. Johnson, on May 7, 1954 in the Evangelical United Brethren Church at Orchard, NE. They made their first home in Tacoma, WA at Fort Lewis where they welcomed their son, Roger Michael. Soon after they moved to the Johnson family farm, where they made their home and worked side by side for over 50 years. Her final residence was in O'Neill, NE.
Lois was well-known for her kind spirit and caring for all those who she came into contact with. This was evident in her years of nursing at O'Neill and Creighton Hospitals. After she stopped working as a nurse, her life was filled with raising Roger, supporting him through his various activities, serving as a 4-H leader for years, and cherished her role as his ever-loving mother. She was the hub of the entire farm operation. She kept the men well fed, running a full course meal to the field that was always served warm. She was as dedicated to the cattle and farm as anyone. She was the glue that kept extended family held together and would plan and hold annual family reunions. She never forgot an anniversary or a birthday and even if you weren't family, she treated you as family. Her simple joy was to purely chat with those around her.
Lois was very proud of her family, but especially of her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She never missed a grandchild's event and was in the front row of every game, speech contest, or cattle show ring. She loved seeing her great-grandchildren and any chance to spend time with family was important to her. She will be missed by all that knew her and loved her.
Lois was a long-time member of the First Presbyterian Church in O'Neill where she was part of the women's circle and held many church offices. She was a faithful servant of the Lord and her true devotion was an inspiration to those around her. She was active in the Verdigre Community Chorus, the Stitch and Chatter Club, and the Starlite Extension Club.
Lois is survived by her husband of 63 years, Clayton Johnson of O'Neill; her son, Roger and his wife, Julie, of Verdigre; her four grandchildren, Shane (Deanne) Johnson of Verdigre, Sarah (Kyle) Konopasek of Sergeant Bluff, IA, Cassie (Jon) Sonder of Verdigre, and Jessica Johnson (Alex Clark) of Neligh; and five great grandchildren, Owen, Aden, and Violet Konopasek and Gabe and Gunner Sonder. She also leaves behind many loving nieces, nephews, extended family, and friends.
Lois is preceded in death by her parents; her dear, infant son Daryl; her brothers, Glen and Dale Robertson; sisters, Neva Mae Young, Verna Orr, Jean Porter, and infant sister Fern.
