Fontelle (Wood) Harvey was born on April 29, 1925 at the Wood farm in Page, Nebraska to Edgar Noel Wood and Irene Belle (Edmisten) Wood. She was named after her Grandmother Melissa (Lines) Wood, who passed in 1922. Fontelle was the oldest of four children, followed by sister Yvonne, brother Ronald, and brother Noel. She attended grade school through the eighth grade at County School District #57, one mile east of their farm. She then attended Page High School, and graduated in 1942.
One of her classmates through elementary and high school was Calvin Harvey. They started dating in high school. When WWII started, all high school student lives were disrupted. Calvin was drafted and sent to the pacific theater. Fontelle worked at the Farmers Store in Page, then later moved to Omaha. When Calvin returned from the war, they were married on April 29, 1946. (On Fontelle's 21 st birthday.)
To their union, two sons were born: Gene and Lyle Harvey. With their family, Calvin and Fontelle farmed two miles east of Page.
Fontelle was a member of various clubs, including the American Legion Auxiliary, the East Side Country Club, the Help One-Another Club, the United Methodist Women, and multiple bridge clubs. She was a member of the United Methodist Church for over 80 years. She was on the Page School Board, and held various officer positions on the American Legion Auxiliary. She worked at Gibson's in O'Neill in the 70's and 80's, as well as working at the Farmers Store in Page.
Fontelle loved to bake, and make cookies, cakes and brownies for weddings and special occasions for anyone that asked. She also distributed baked goods on holidays and birthdays to anyone and everyone in the community.
Fontelle was preceded in death by her Mother and Father, Edgar (1991) and Irene Wood (1999), brother Ronald (Bud) Wood of Centerville, South Dakota (1995), husband Calvin Harvey (1995), granddaughter Cindy Harvey (1996), sister Yvonne (Wood) Asher of Atkinson, Nebraska (2008), and son Gene Harvey (2014).
Fontelle is survived by brother Noel (and Janit) Wood of Riverton, Wyoming, son Lyle (and Vicki) of Page, daughter-in-law Rose of Pierce, Nebraska, grandsons Warren, Cameron, and Jason, great-grandchildren Dakota, Kelly, Jenna, Calvin and Jillian, and three great-great grandchildren.
