Funeral Services for Mariam Barnhard, 76, of Ewing, NE will be 10:30 am Friday, October 1, 2021 at the Assembly of God Church in O'Neill. Rev. Mike Durre will officiate. Burial will be in the O'Neill Cemetery. Visitation will be from 5-7 pm Thursday, September 30, 2021 at Biglin's Mortuary in O'Neill with a 7 pm Prayer Service. Mariam passed away on Monday, September 27, 2021 at Avera St. Anthony's Hospital in O'Neill. Memorials may be directed to the family for future designation. Arrangements are entrusted to Biglin's Mortuary of O'Neill.

Mariam Angela Boyle was born on June 12, 1945 in Sioux City, IA to Edward and Mary (Barrett) Boyle. When Mariam was three, her mother passed away leaving her and her 10 siblings. As a teenager, Mariam's father also passed away. Because most of her brothers were in the military, Mariam moved to Wichita, KS to live with her sister. After she graduated from high school in Wichita, she returned to Inman, NE.

On February 27, 1965, she married Forrest 'Bert' Smith at St. Patrick Catholic Church in O'Neill and they made their home in Newport. To this union, four boys were born: Paul, Pat, Perry, and Phillip.

On August 13, 1997, Bert died suddenly after being struck by lightning. Mariam returned to Inman for a time, but then she moved to O'Neill. Mariam worked at Fox's Food Plaza, Holiday Inn Express, and Dollar General. On August 10, 2010, she married Eugene Barnhard at the Assembly of God Church in O'Neill. Mariam continued to take care of family and provided home care.

Mariam was a member of the Assembly of God Church in O'Neill. She loved old country music, dancing, fishing, baking, and gardening. She especially loved spending time with her family and was always willing to take care of others.

Mariam is survived by her husband of 11 years, Gene Barnhard of Ewing, NE; children, Paul (Angela) Smith of Radcliff, KY, Forrest 'Pat' (Diana) Smith of Omaha, NE, Perry (Marla) Smith of Neligh, NE, Phillip Smith of Killeen, TX, Deb (Tim) Mitchell of Lakin, KS, and Doug (Diane Anderson) Barnhard of Ewing, NE; 12 grandchildren; 10 great grandchildren; brothers, Ed (Bette) Boyle of O'Neill, NE and Dick (Charlene) Boyle of York, NE; sister, Margaret Posch of Kansas; in-laws, Joe Harte of Inman, NE, and Shirley Boyle of Oakland, NE; and many nieces and nephews.

Mariam is preceded in death by her parents; her first husband, Forrest 'Bert' Smith; infant brother, Francis Boyle; brothers, Pat Boyle, Mick Boyle, Chuck Boyle, Ned Boyle, and Larry Boyle; and sisters, Marie Harte and Mary Agnes Janzing.
