Funeral Services for Marie Graham, age 97, of O'Neill, Nebraska will be 10:30 AM Friday, July 13, 2018 at the First United Methodist Church in O'Neill.  Burial will be at 1:30 PM in the Woodlawn Cemetery in Atkinson, NE.  Visitation will be from 9:00 AM until time of the service on Friday at the church.  Marie passed away on Monday, July 9, 2018 at the Norfolk Veteran's Home in Norfolk, NE. Memorials to the family for future designation.

Virginia Marie Young was born on January 28, 1921 in Atkinson, Nebraska to E.R. and Etna (Owens) Young.  She attended rural School District #81 near Atkinson and graduated from Atkinson High School in 1938.  Marie attended Wayne State College and taught in rural schools for four years.  She was later employed by Johnson Drug Store in O'Neill, Nebraska for 14 years and at other O'Neill businesses.

Marie married Derald Graham on May 12, 1949 at Bassett, Nebraska. They had no children. She was a book keeper and an office clerk for Kraft Inc and Mid-American Dairymen for 12 years.  Marie retired in 1988.

After retirement, Marie was a volunteer for the Avera St. Anthony's Hospital Outpatient Clinic.  She was also a Volunteer at the Community Thrift Store for about five years.

Marie was a Permanent Member of the O'Neill American Legion Auxiliary Simonson Post 93 and held many offices in the unit, lastly as Historian.  She was also a member of the O'Neill First United Methodist Church.  She was also a six-gallon donor to the Red Cross Bloodmobile.

Marie liked to bowl and served a Secretary of the O'Neill Women's Bowling Association for 17 years, as well as President for several years.  She was awarded the "Outstanding Secretary of the Year" award from the Nebraska Women's Bowling Association in 1994.  She took up playing Bridge in 1963 and was an active member in several Bridge Clubs.

Marie is survived by several nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Derald Graham in 2011; two brothers, Everett Young and Ralph Young, Jr.; four sisters, Hazel Beckwith, Blanche Kazda, Ruth Howard, and Olive Wyant.
