Funeral Mass for Marie Ramold, age 90, of O'Neill, Nebraska will be 10:30 am Saturday, June 29, 2019 at St. Patrick's Catholic Church in O'Neill.  Fr. Joseph Sund will officiate.  Burial will follow in the O'Neill Cemetery.  Visitation will be Friday from 5-7 pm with a Parish Rosary at 7 pm at Biglin's Mortuary in O'Neill.  Marie passed away Monday, June 24, 2019 at the Methodist Hospital in Omaha, NE.  Biglin's Mortuary of O'Neill is in charge of arrangements.

Marie was born March 4 ^th , 1929 in O'Neill to Leo and Bridget (Boyle) Schneider.  She graduated from St. Mary's Academy in 1946 and obtained her teaching certificate from Wayne Normal School.  The following fall she started her career as a country school teacher.  Marie married Andy Ramold on December 29, 1953 and together they celebrated 59 years of marriage until Andy passed away in October 2013.

Marie stopped teaching when she got married, but continued to be involved in the community through church, school, and social activities.  These include St. Patrick's Church, St. Mary's Schools, Legion of Mary, Altar Society, the Third Order of Saint Francis, Boyd/Holt Right to Life, Red Cross Bloodmobile, and the Archdiocesan Marriage Preparation Team.  Marie also helped found Kraft Korner, a quilting organization benefitting St. Mary's Schools.    Many in the community remember her sunny disposition from the years she passed out food samples at local stores.

Marie and Andy were known for generously opening their home to rural students who were town-bound due to weather or waiting for rides home, exchange students, and young women with unplanned pregnancies.  Their house was a frequent gathering place for relatives and neighbors after school, games, and Sunday Mass.

Marie and Andy raised a bountiful garden in their back yard, then canned or shared their crops.   Several neighborhood kids also remember ride-alongs where they learned to pick wild asparagus, choke cherries, grapes, and more.  Then the fruit was carefully divided between Marie's jellies and Andy's wine.

Marie always started her day at daily Mass, before hurrying home to get the family out the door to work or school.   Daily prayers included the Rosary and Legion of Mary meditations.  In her last months, she covered multiple intentions by just praying for her 'family, friends, and foes' before going to sleep at night.

Marie's faith and sense of humor grounded her through the celebrations and sorrows of life … and all the moments in between.   These lessons and memories now sustain her family and friends as they say good bye and celebrate the beautiful life she lived.

Marie is survived by her children; Randy Ramold of Wagner, SD, Jeanie Miller and husband Mike of Spencer, NE, Kathy Scott and husband Mike of Winner, SD, Ron Ramold of Omaha, NE; son-in-law, Steve Sintek of North Loup, NE; 7 grandchildren; Mikeaela (Luke) Koenig, Kristin (Tom) Catterson, Erik Scott, Shelby Scott, Gage Sintek, Margaret Sintek, Clark Sintek; 3 great-grandchildren, Ava Catterson, Andy Catterson, Xander Koenig; sisters, Ramona Babl of O'Neill, NE, Betty Bowers of Rapid City, SD,  and many other relatives and friends.

She is preceded in death by her parents; husband, Andy Ramold; daughter, Joan Sintek; brothers, Jim Schneider, Don Schneider, George Schneider, Tom Schneider, and Gene Schneider.
