The family of Mark Rasmussen, age 68, of O’Neill, is sad to announce that he died peacefully on October 13, 2026, at his home in O’Neill. A Private Family Burial will take place.  Arrangements are entrusted to Biglin's Mortuary in O'Neill.  

Mark was born on January 22, 1958 in O’Neill, Nebraska to Ray and Mary Ann (Raymer) Rasmussen. He grew up in town alongside his older brother David and his younger sister Karen. Mark graduated from O’Neill Public High School in 1976.

Not long after graduation, Mark set out for Denver, Colorado where he began a career with FedEx. About five years later, the company took him to Lima, Ohio where he continued his work and built a life. After his father passed away in 2010 Mark and his son Sam moved back to O’Neill, the town he had always called home.

Mark was a gardener at heart. He loved working with the earth; his gardening and landscaping showed his patience and care. Those who knew him will remember a man who was easy going and well liked and could make a room laugh with his quick wit and who was above all, extremely kind.

Mark is survived by sons, Raymond Rasmussen of Lima, OH and Sam (Kelly) Rasmussen of Inman, NE; grandchildren, Ella and Henry; his brother, David Rasmussen of Grand Island, NE; his sister, Karen (Kirk) Sholes of Inman, NE; his nephews, Brian and Bradley.

He is preceded in death by his parents, Ray and Mary Ann Rasmussen.
