Mike Wheeler's Obituary
Memorial Services for Mike Wheeler, age 52, of Dodge City, KS, will be at 10:30 A.M., Saturday, March 12, 2016, at the Faith Community Church in O'Neill.
Memorial Visitation will be at 9:30 A.M., one hour before the service at the church. Pastor Steve Randolph will officiate.
Special music will be provided by Kelly and Kirby Kloppenborg, Lauren Hoefer, with accompaniment by Terry Kloppenborg. Honorary Pallbearers are: Trent Shoemaker, Tyson Shoemaker, Scott Lauby, John McBride, Mike Shoemaker, and Kelly Kloppenborg.
A Private Family Inurnment will be held at a later date. Michael passed away Monday, March 7, 2016, in Dodge City, KS.
Memorials may be made to the family for future designation.
Michael Allen Wheeler, son of Jerry and Faye (Murray) Wheeler, was born March 3, 1964, in O'Neill, NE. Mike graduated from O'Neill High School in 1982, later graduating from Southeast Community College in Milford, NE.
Shortly after graduating college, Mike moved to Azle, TX where he worked in tool and die, later working at Davis Zetor Tractor. In 2006, Mike moved to Kansas where the joy of his life Katherine Ann was born. While in Dodge City he worked for My-D-Han-D Manufacturing until the time of his death.
Mike had a love for horses and rodeos from a very young age. He was active in the Atkinson High School Rodeo Association and competed at the state finals in steer wrestling. Mike enjoyed camping, hunting, fishing, and the great outdoors with family and friends. He always looked forward to spending time with family and friends at gatherings and manning the grill.
Mike lived big and loved big!
He is survived by his daughter, Katie Wheeler, mother, Faye Wheeler, sister, Jeri Jo Shoemaker and husband Mike, all of O'Neill, NE, nieces and nephews: Makayla Lauby and husband Scott and 3 children; Ashton, Titus, and Declan, of Omaha, NE, Trent Shoemaker and wife Tiffani and 4 children: Madison, Evan, Caden, and Gavin, of O'Neill, NE, Tyson Shoemaker and wife Crystal and 3 children: Colten, Tandi, and Trynlee of O'Neill, NE, and Brooke McBride and husband John of Sioux City, IA. Also survived by aunts, uncles, other relatives, and friends.
Mike was preceded in death by his father, Jerry Wheeler in 1990.
