Morna Laree was the 6 th child and only daughter of William and Minnie (Gibson) Farrand, born on the family farm in Dorsey, NE, on March 16, 1925. She grew up on the family farm, doing chores outside and inside the house.  She went to District #4 School, then to Lynch High School, graduating in 1942.  Her mother became ill and Morna stayed home to care for her.  Then after her mother's passing, she continued on the farm doing housework, raising a garden and flowers, and caring for her father for many years.  She liked to sew, embroider and make quilts in addition to being an Avon lady for a number of years.  She inherited a farm from her Aunt, which she put irrigation on and rented it out.  She taught Sunday School, also later helping in the Word of Life Christian School, teaching Art class.  In 1996, Morna and her brother decided it was time to retire as they were having health problems.  They sold the farm and bought a home in O'Neill, where they lived for 12 years, enjoying raising a garden and flowers.  Morna was on the Dorsey Cemetery Board for 50 years.  In 2000, she enjoyed a trip to the Oregon coast to a Farrand cousin reunion, where she met all her Farrand cousins.  Poor health again forced them to move to the Evergreen Assisted Living for a number of years.  While there, she became interested in working with beads given to her, and she spent many hours making jewelry and giving it away.

Morna is survived by one brother, Irvin, four nephews:  Merlyn Farrand and wife Linda of Manchester, IA, Wayne Farrand and wife Janice of West Des Moines, IA, Glenn Farrand and wife Diana of Ankeny, IA, Wendell Farrand and wife Beverly of Strafford, MO, one niece, Sheryl Farrand of Clive, IA, 11 nieces and nephews and 21 great nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents, 5 brothers; Forrest, Norman and wife Myrtle, Foster and wife Lorene, Howard, and Clarence.
