Funeral Services for Phyllis Latzel, age 84, of O'Neill, will be at 11:30 A.M., Monday, May 23, 2016, at Biglin's Mortuary in O'Neill, with burial in the O'Neill Cemetery.

Fr. Bernard Starman will officiate.

Visitation will be Sunday, May 22, 2016, from 5-7 P.M., with a 7:00 P.M. Wake Service at Biglin's Mortuary in O'Neill.

Phyllis passed away Wednesday evening, May 18, 2016, at Avera St. Anthony's Hospital in O'Neill.

Memorials may be made to Holt County Animal Shelter or Northeast Community College, O'Neill Extended Campus.

Phyllis was born on November 30, 1931, in Walnut, NE, to Edward and Irene (Juracek) Cernousek. She graduated from Ewing High School.
Phyllis married Adolph Latzel on November 19, 1951 in O'Neill, NE;
he passed away on November 18, 1989.

Phyllis worked for ASCS office in O'Neill for many years and also worked as a bookkeeper for her husband's engine repair shop.

In her spare time, Phyllis enjoyed shopping, going to the casino and visiting with her friends. She enjoyed her flowers, and she loved her cats. Phyllis was also very charitable and she was very generous when donating to her favorite charities. She had a huge sweet tooth and loved chocolate. Phyllis will be missed by all who knew and loved her. She was a member of the O'Neill American Legion Simonson Post #93 Auxiliary.

She is survived by 3 sisters in laws; Norma Latzel of Lincoln, NE, Grace Walters of Lincoln, NE and Elnora Becker of Aurora, OR, 4 cousins; Alfred Cernousek and wife Bernice of Kearney, NE, Gloria Volquardsen of Orchard, NE, Linda Thelen and husband Merle of Norfolk, NE, Clifford Juracek and wife Garnett of Norfolk, NE, and many friends.

She was preceded in death by her husband Adolph and her parents.
