A Private Memorial Graveside Service for Robert Deitemeyer, age 76, of O'Neill will be at a later date.  Robert passed away unexpectedly at Faith Regional Hospital in Norfolk on Tuesday, August 19, 2025.  Arrangements are entrusted to Biglin's Mortuary in O'Neill.

Robert Stephen Deitemeyer was born on July 10, 1949 to Robert and Jean (Stephens) Deitemeyer in Lincoln, Nebraska.  He was the oldest child and was followed by Don and Dick. He was baptized and confirmed in the Lutheran Church.  Robert grew up in Lincoln and attended Lincoln Southeast High School.  Robert then attended Nebraska Christian College in Norfolk and Wayne State College in Wayne.

After College, Robert worked as a carpenter and was severely injured in a wall collapse while working at a construction site.  He met Cathy Elsbury at a dance at the Royal Grove in Lincoln.  They later married on May 27, 1983 in Atkinson, Nebraska.  Robert worked as a mail carrier for a couple years, worked as a prison guard, a Dry Waller, and in a Machine Shop.    Robert and Cathy moved to Atkinson in the late 1980's and Robert retired in 1989.  The couple moved into O'Neill in 2015.

Robert was a lifetime member of the NRA and also a member of the First Presbyterian Church in O'Neill.

He enjoyed riding motorcycles, hunting, collecting coins, reading western books, and going metal detecting.

Rob is survived by his wife of 42 years, Cathy Deitemeyer of O'Neill, NE; his children, Luke (Kelly) Deitemeyer of Portland, OR, Joshua (Kari) Aguirre of Topeka, KS, Jennifer (Jason) Scott of Molalla, OR; four grandchildren, David Deitemeyer, Wyatt Deitemeyer, Denali Scott, Sierra Scott; brothers, Don (Marilyn) Deitemeyer of Doniphan, NE, Dick (Nancy) Deitemeyer of Los Angeles, CA; seven in-laws, Ellen (Don) Ogden of Atkinson, NE, Marcia (Rod) Wendell of Bartlesville, OK, John (Sheryl) Elsbury of Atkinson, NE, Raedeen (Dennis) Gentele, of Atkinson, NE, Mark (Jackie) Elsbury of O'Neill, Bill Elsbury of Alexandria, VA, Cheryl (Max) Cambras of New York City, NY; many nieces and nephews.

He is preceded in death by his parents and stepson, Tony Aguirre.
