Ruth passed away Sunday, May 7, 2017, at Faith Regional Health Services in Norfolk, NE.
Ruth was born January 12, 1925, to Levi and Hattie (Sodersten) Clemens in Brunswick, NE. She was the third youngest of seven kids. When she was three years old, the family moved to a farm near Amelia NE. She went to school in Amelia through the 11 th grade. She graduated from Atkinson high school in Atkinson NE in 1942. While she went to school in Atkinson, she stayed in a boarding house and earned her keep by doing housecleaning.
She met her future husband, Leonard Pribil at a dance in O'Neill. On February 12, 1945, Ruth married Leonard at St. Joseph's Catholic Church in Atkinson. To this union five children were born: Patricia, William, Ann, Karen and Sandra. After their marriage, they moved to Lincoln to work at the Goodyear plant that produced war items. After six months, the war had ended and they moved back to O'Neill, to the Pribil family ranch where she lived and worked the rest of her life.
In 1974, Leonard and Ruth purchased the Gooch Feed Store in O'Neill NE. In 1979, they purchased the tank wagon service from Floyd Wilson and combined that service with the feed store. They continued to run the feed store and tank wagon service until 2006. She and Leonard were married 68 years until Leonard passed. Ruth was a hard worker and worked alongside her husband milking cows, tending to her chickens, running the feed store and raising her five children. Ruth always hosted family holidays and a holiday meal was not complete without two types of cinnamon rolls and every kind of pie you ever imagined. She was extremely proud of all of her children, grandchildren, great-grandchildren and great-great grandson, and never missed wishing them happy birthday or happy anniversary.
She was a member of St. Patrick's Catholic Church her entire married life. She enjoyed listening and dancing to polka music. Ruth always enjoyed visiting with her grandkids and finding out what they were up to. She had a special place in her heart for her cats, Ruby and Nermal.
Ruth is survived by her five children: Patricia Conway, William Pribil and wife LouAnn, Ann Storjohann and husband Thomas and Karen Slaymaker and husband Rick, all of O'Neill and Sandra Bogue and husband David of Norfolk NE; nine grandchildren: Amy Conway, Melissa Drevecky, Mark Storjohann, Jeff Storjohann, Kari Madsen, Vicki Pribil, Dan Pribil, Justin Bogue and Travis Bogue; nine great grandchildren: Amber Drevecky, Alex Storjohann, Kasey Drevecky, Sam Storjohann, Noah Storjohann, Emily Drevecky, Will Madsen, Sadie Mae Madsen and Avery Madsen; one great-great grandchild: Blake Fernau. One sister, Joan Martin of O'Neill.
She was preceeded in death by her parents Levi and Hattie Clemens; husband, Leonard Pribil, son-in-law, Edward Conway; three brothers and two sisters.
Memorials in honor of Ruth may be made to St. Patrick's Church or St. Mary's School
