A Celebration of Life for Scott Fernau, age 49 of O'Neill, will be 10:00 am Saturday, October 1, 2022 at Biglin's Mortuary in O'Neill. Scott passed away on Wednesday, September 7, 2022 at his home in O'Neill. Memorials may be directed to his family for future designation. Arrangements are entrusted to Biglin's Mortuary of O'Neill.

Scott Allen Christoffersen was born October 15, 1972 in Corpus Christi, TX to Allen and Connie (Hokanson) Christoffersen. He attended elementary school in Chadron, NE and Crawford, NE. Scott changed his last name to Fernau after moving to O'Neill, NE with his mother and father, Steve Fernau. He graduated from O'Neill High School in 1990, where he excelled in football. After high school, Scott attended University of Nebraska-Kearney for 2 years.

In 1995, Scott married Denise Rupert forming a family with her son, Joey. Scott and Joey loved to hunt and fish with Grandpa Steve.Scott and Denise later divorced.

Scott worked at Christensen Farms for over 15 years, then he worked for Olson Industries for around 10 years. In recent years, Scott worked at Casey's in O'Neill where he appreciated his interactions with the customers.

Scott enjoyed cooking and watching the Denver Broncos and the New York Mets. He was an avid collector of baseball cards and sports memorabilia, collecting many throughout the years.

Scott is survived by his father, Steve Fernau of Atkinson, NE; grandmother, Darlene Nissen; and several aunts, uncles, neighbors, and coworkers.

Scott is preceded by his mother, Connie Fernau in 2020; paternal grandfather, Lyle Fernau; paternal grandfather, Dale Christoffersen; and maternal grandparents, Alvern and RuthHokanson.
