Bernard Starman will officiate.  Visitation will be 5-8 pm Thursday, March 6, 2025 with a 7:00 pm Knights of Columbus Rosary at Biglin's Mortuary in O'Neill.  Steven passed away after a car accident east of Neligh on Wednesday, February 12, 2025.  Memorials may be directed to his family for future designation.  Arrangements are entrusted to Biglin's Mortuary in O'Neill.

Steven Lawrence Binkerd was born on January 4, 1984 in O'Neill, Nebraska to Thomas Binkerd and Susan Curran.  He grew up in O'Neill and attended St. Mary's Catholic School graduating with the class of 2002.  After high school he attended Wayne State College for one year before moving to Conception, Missouri and attending Conception Seminary.

Steven returned to O'Neill and started working for the Boyd County Sheriff's Department while taking EMT classes to get his license.  He worked a short time for the Boyd/Holt Dispatch Center and then started working for the Holt County Sheriff's Department.  Steven went on to take classes to become an Investigator for the Sheriff's Department.  He also worked as a part time Police Officer for the city of Atkinson.  Steven was a Certified Coroner and also taught many CPR classes in the area.  He drove bus for St. Mary's High School and was also a cantor for St. Patrick's Catholic Church.

He married Doreen Ayugi on February 17, 2024 in Uganda.

Steven was a member of the St. Patrick's Catholic Church, O'Neill Knights of Columbus, Jeep Club, and also a member of MOCIC.

He enjoyed reading, wood working, golfing, and Jeep Club.

Steven is survived by his wife, Doreen Ayugi Binkerd of Lira Uganda; mother, Susan Curran Morrill of O'Neill; father, Tom Binkerd of Stanton; half-siblings, Candace (Mike) Leutheuser of Ravenna, MI, Daniel Binkerd of Ravenna, MI, Andrew Binkerd of Muskegon, MI, Jennifer (Tony) Villella of Livonia, MI, William Meyer of O'Neill; seven nieces and nephews; aunts, Kim Alvarez of Indiana, Deb (Tim) Drumheller of Leigh, NE.

He is preceded in death by his grandparents; uncle, John Binkerd and step mother, Melody Binkerd.
