Warren Leon
Rickard
Dec 12, 1947 — Nov 9, 2023
Memorial Services for Warren Rickard, age 75, of Atkinson will be in the spring of 2024. Burial will then be in the Chambers Cemetery.
Warren Leon Rickard was born on December 12, 1947, at home in rural Chambers, Nebraska. He was the fifth of ten children born to Bernard and Doris Rickard.
Warren graduated from Chambers High School in 1966 and went on to attend Milford Tech School. He later worked at Grosch Irrigation in O'Neill, Nebraska, where he met Peggy. He and Peggy were married in 1977 and settled in the O'Neill area. They moved to California in 1987, where they made their home for 33 years. While in California, Warren worked for the City of Rocklin, before retiring in 2002. He and Peggy enjoyed their beautiful acreage near Newcastle, where Warren tinkered in his shop, enjoyed golfing, and stayed faithful to his Huskers.
In 2020, they returned to Holt County, Nebraska, to be back home near family and friends. He loved sharing their acreage and fishing pond with family that came to visit nearly every weekend.
Warren was at home, on Thursday, November 9, 2023, when he entered into the arms of the Lord after a brief battle with an aggressive form of lung cancer. He will be missed by all that knew and loved him.
Warren is survived by: his wife Peggy of 46 years; his children Shelly Ross, Greg Rickard and wife Sandy, Tammy Dimmitt and husband Travis; his stepchildren Ken Nichols and wife Julie, and Lori Rodgers and husband Travis; fifteen grandchildren and fifteen great-grandchildren; siblings Verlin Rickard and wife Pat, Gary Rickard, Glenda Mudloff, Vicki Tomjack and husband Bill, and Darla Cox and husband Rick, (Janet) Eddie Fleek, and (Martin) Shelda Rickard; sisters-in-law Sue (Keith) Kasselder, Dixie (Duane) Kruntorad, and Tammy Hinkle and husband Jim; and many nieces and nephews.
He is preceded in death by: his parents, Bernard and Doris Rickard; Peggy's parents, Walt and Mary Field; his brothers Alan, Martin and Marvin Rickard, and sister Janet Fleek; brothers-in-law Dale Mudloff, Keith Kasselder and Duane Kruntorad; grandchildren Emily Nichols and Chelsey Dimmitt.
