William "Bill"
Rosicky
Feb 19, 1939 — Mar 25, 2026
A Memorial Mass for William P. "Bill" Rosicky, age 87, of Lynch, Nebraska will be at 10:00 am on Friday, June 5, 2026 at Assumption of the Blessed Virgin Mary Church in Lynch, Nebraska with a 9:30am Rosary. Inurnment will follow in the ABVM Catholic Cemetery in Lynch. Bill passed away on Wednesday, March 25, 2026, ending a life shaped by faith, steady service, family, and unimaginable loss. Despite his family tragedies, Bill lived life with grace, humor, and humility until the very end. Arrangements are entrusted to Biglin's Mortuary in Spencer.
Bill was born in Lynch, Nebraska, on February 19, 1939, to Earl and Genevieve Rosicky, who operated a variety store and insurance agency. As a child, Bill enjoyed swimming in the Niobrara River and skating down the Ponca. He attended Lynch High School, graduating in 1956. After high school, Bill worked for the railroad in Phoenix, Arizona, and for Cushing Construction. He served in the National Guard for six years. Bill also served on the Lynch City Council and as Mayor of Lynch, working to get the new baseball field built. Bill loved fishing, playing the guitar, and cold beer. He would like the beer better if someone else offered to pay for it.
Bill devoted his working life to serving his community through Boyd County Telephone Cooperative, later known as Three River Telco. He began his career on April 1, 1962, as an Outside Plant Technician/Lineman, working with his hands and earning trust one day at a time. Over the decades, his quiet competence and integrity carried him forward, and on January 1, 1989, he was named General Manager. Bill retired on February 1, 1999.
Bill married his beloved wife Marlene at Assumption Church on February 08, 1964. Together they raised three sons, Ron, Kent, and Chad, each of whom graduated from Lynch High School. Bill was immensely proud of his boys, and especially proud of their education. That pride was reflected when Kent and Chad followed in their mother's footsteps to be named Lynch High School valedictorians. Ron graduated from Wayne State with a degree in Industrial Management.
Great sorrow found the Rosicky family over the years and never let go. Bill and Marlene suffered through the heartbreaking loss of their son Kent on December 02, 1989 (age 23), then their son Chad on September 28, 1991 (age 20), then their son Ron on April 18, 2010 (age 45). Marlene passed away and joined her boys in heaven on June 30, 2012. Though sorrow always walked beside Bill, it never defined him. He enjoyed life, never stopped smiling, and remained rooted in faith. Bill knew the tragedies were not the end.
Bill enjoyed life until the end of his days. The biggest reason for his longevity, peace, and enjoyment over the past 11 years was the relationship with his partner, Phyllis Sheaffer. Whether he always deserved it or not, Phyllis was wonderful to Bill. Several years ago, she convinced him to move with her to the Grande Living retirement community in Georgetown, Texas. Bill was truly blessed to spend his final years in such a wonderful place, with such a wonderful woman by his side. The family is so thankful for Phyllis and everything she did for Bill over the years.
At Assumption of the Blessed Virgin Mary Church in Lynch, Nebraska, Bill received the sacraments of Baptism, First Communion/First Confession, Confirmation, and Marriage. Now, the Catholic Funeral Mass for Bill will be celebrated in the same church that he received these sacraments and the same church that held funeral masses for his wife and three sons. His life now comes full circle in the same sacred place in Lynch.
Bill is survived by his partner, Phyllis Sheaffer of Georgetown, Texas; daughter-in-law, Debbie Rosicky of Renton, Washington; brother-in-law, Dr. Stanley and Janice Streit of Osborne, Kansas; sister-in-law, Elaine Hansen of Logan, Iowa; along with several nieces, nephews, and friends who will remember him for his booming voice, love of country music, and his passion for avoiding unnecessary expenditures.
Today, we take comfort in knowing that Bill is reunited in heaven with Marlene and his three boys. They are all together again, whole and at peace. For those who loved the Rosicky family, that reunion is a source of deep consolation.
